Learning and Development

21 - 25 March 2011

Quantum Geoservices successfully conducts second seismic data processing
training at it's Singapore processing centre. The 5 day training course was held from March 21-25. Andy Juniper, Senior course instructor from Globe Claritas, New Zealand conducted the training.

In addition to the industry standard 2D processing workflow, participants were trained in advanced 3D marine time imaging tools, workflows and advanced processing techniques. As part of the tutorial the entire team of geophysicists processed the sample dataset from preprocessing until final Pre-Stack Time Migration.

Quantum Geoservices plans to continue to conduct such training courses
in Singapore and within the Asia Pacific, South Asia and Central Asia regions

17 - 23 July 2010

Quantum Geoservices is pleased to announce the success of its two and five day data processing training which was held in Singapore from 17-23 July.

The first training course held 17-18 July, was entitled “A review of modern seismic data processing methods” and the course instructor was Jim Montalbetti from Avalon Consultants, Australia

The second training course held 19-23 July was entitled “A practical introduction to seismic data processing” and the course instructor was Andrew Juniper from Globe Claritas (GNS) , New Zealand.

The training workshops were attended by geophysicists from South Korea, Myanmar, Uzbekistan and Singapore.

The training was a full hands-on processing utilising the Globe Claritas 2D and 3D processing modules using real land and marine 2D seismic data.

All participants had the opportunity to process a marine 2D line from field data through to final Pre-Stack Time Migration (PreSTM) inclusive of all necessary intermediate testing required to produce an optimum processing sequence/workflow.

It was a good learning experience to test the various software modules and processes. Additionally, it was extremely useful for all to have an opportunity to work and interact with each other in a team environment by coaching and mentoring each other.

At the conclusion of the training, all the processed final migrated stack sections were reviewed and the best team was awarded the prize for producing the best seismic section. The winning team's section showed higher lateral and vertical resolution together with a higher frequency and improved fault plane imaging.

Finally, the feedback from our clients has been very positive and other clients have indicated their interest in attending such training sessions.

Going forward Quantum Geoservices plans on offering these courses to others in the oil and gas industry both in the Asia Pacific and South Asia regions.
